Connect Tako in ChatGPT

Use this procedure to connect Tako as a ChatGPT app.

Requirements

• A ChatGPT account that supports developer mode
• Code Interpreter for calculation runs

Connect the app

1. Open ChatGPT.
2. Open Settings → Security and login.
3. Turn on Developer mode.
4. Open Settings → Plugins, or go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
5. Create a new developer-mode app.
6. Enter:
   • Name: Tako
   • MCP server URL: https://tako.atom.li/mcp
   • Authentication: none
7. Create the app.
8. Confirm these tools appear:
   • prepare_tako_script
   • view_tako_model
   • view_tako_result

Use the app

1. Open a new chat.
2. Open + → More.
3. Select Tako.
4. Request a calculation. Example: prepare a GxTB single-point on water.

ChatGPT runs the calculation in Code Interpreter. The MCP host does not run chemistry. The host serves job plans, runtime files, and the result viewer.

After a tool change

1. Redeploy the Tako host if the server changed.
2. Open the developer-mode app in Plugins.
3. Select Refresh.
